ACBC & THE ARMIDALE COMMUNITY
The Armidale City Bowling Club is a community owned organisation embedded in the Armidale community since 1914. Through its long association with the Armidale community and having its ‘roots’ planted by community members ensures that the local community is deeply engrained in the Clubs DNA.
Demonstrative of the close relationship between the Club and the local community is the significant reinvestment in community groups through developmental aid. Annually the Club contributes over $250 000 in cash donations, bowls developmental aid and in-kind support. This commitment represents a $45 pledge to the community for each member per year based on the financial year 2015/16.
This investment signifies the Clubs commitment to ensuring every dollar spent within the Club has a future in the local community. This vision has led to the Club developing a strong relationship with over 80 separate community based organisations. These organisations range from sporting clubs, to welfare groups and environmental initiatives ensuring the Club is well represented in all section of the community.
The Clubs undeniable support of the community has been recognised at state level with the Club winning and being a multiple finalist in the ClubsNSW Clubs and community awards for the work it has done in partnering with the local community. It is this unity that defines the Clubs focus and demonstrates it great social worth to the Armidale community.

Armidale is a city which continues to expand, both geographically and within the community. Our Club is a major sponsor of many different organisations in the Armidale community, and we are proud to help our town develop.
Our members know that within our club “Every Dollar You Spend Has A Future”, an initiative created by our team to show our customers that all the money that is invested into the club is then distributed back into the community.
We currently have over 85 Community Partners which we sponsor and support, and we dedicate over $200,000 per annum for community reinvestment. This commitment to the local community is exemplified by the Boards and Managements commitment to following the motto that “It makes ‘Cents To Support The Club That Supports The Community”.
Our Community Partners consist of charity organisations, local not-for-profit organisations and sporting groups. Our strategic focus on developing the local community through monetary and inkind involvement means all our patrons are directly developing and cultivating the local community in which they reside.
CLUB GRANTS
Community Groups from the local Armidale community have an opportunity to formally apply to the Armidale City Bowling Club for funding for various community-related projects. The funding is made available from profits generated from gaming activity. The ClubGRANTS Scheme (formerly the CDSE Scheme) was established to formalise this funding process.
The ClubGRANTS Scheme was designed to ensure that registered clubs in NSW contribute to the provision of front-line services to their local communities; and to ensure that the disadvantaged in the community are better positioned to benefit from the substantial contributions made by those clubs.
There are three categories of ClubGRANTS available:
Category 1 funding is specifically for local projects and/or services that contribute to the welfare and broader social fabric of the local community and are aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people. These projects encompass Community Welfare & Social Services, Community Development, Community Health Services and Employment Assistance Activities.
Category 2 funding is generally for projects not listed or eligible for Category 1 funding such as Sport and Recreational Clubs, Cultural Activities – Visual/Performing Arts, Charity Fundraising, Medical Research and in-kind services such as Complimentary Room Hire, Fundraising Products and Prizes and Training Facilities for Elite Athletes.
Category 3 funding is automatically paid by the club into the NSW Government’s ClubGRANTS Fund on a quarterly basis to support and develop large scale State-wide projects or services such as Sports Venues and Facilities, Hospitals and Community Health Services, Youth Facilities, Child Care Facilities, Aged Care Facilities, Educational Facilities, Emergency Services Facilities, Parks and Recreation, Community Housing and Community Transport.

The Clubs grant rounds will be available from 1st of July and will close on the 30th of June the following year.
To apply for a Club grant please register your application
here and select the relevant form i.e., Category 1 or 2, and submit the application for the Club's consideration. The Club's Sponsorship and Donations Committee meets monthly to consider grant applications.
